Thiers-Issard was established in 1884 by Pierre Thiers. He started as an apprentice to a master razor maker back in 1870 and after 24 years he had mastered the art of making razors.
In 1884 Pierre Thiers established his own forge. The factory name - Thiers-Issard - was a combination of his last name and that of his wife in order to differentiate himself from the rest of the family. From 1884 until his death in 1929 Pierre Thiers worked in his forge and died ... reportedly, at work.
In 1985 the Thiers-Issard company was acquired by Gilles Reynewaeter.
Its is now a cutlery manufacturer which exports a wide range of products around the world.
