Caring for horn handles

The horn used to make shaving brushes handles and straight razor scales requires minimal maintenance. The horn should be covered on a regular basis with hose foot oil or Paulin beef fat  - blond or black depending on the color of the horn. You can also use vegetable oil cooking.

You find these products either in supermarkets or in dedicated stores and are sometimes very close to leather cleaning products.
Caring does not exempt to avoid exposure to heat and sun ...
Never immerse your horn handles in too hot or boiling water!

The excess oil or grease can be removed with a cloth a few hours after application.
A buffing with a clean cloth complete the process.
