Dovo
The company DOVO Steelware was founded in 1906. At the beginning, the factory was only producing straight razors. The founders, Mr. Dorp and Mr. Voos employed 13 staff.
By 1930, Solingen had become bigger through the incorporation of outlying villages and the law passed in 1938 to protect the name.
As Mr. Dorp and Mr. Voos wanted to retire, Fritz Barcht took over the DOVO company shortly before the second World War. Even during the war, the company managed to find its way abroad.
Because of the introduction of the electric razors, Mr. Bracht created a second source of income by producing scissors after the war.
Since 1952, the company acquired different brand names in oder to reach new markets. The brand Merkur joined the group in 1996.
